Religion has no role in ones life but human being need religion. But people believe in the system which was followed by the people before. In life, religion is just a word which shows their race, for which some give importance and some not.People do say that religion is one and one caste. But these would be there in their saying only. So i strongly commend that religion is one which was formulated by the human beings and they pretend that no one can live without religion. But for living in a society religion is needed but if one believes in the life of human beings there is no such importance for religion
according to me it does not hav any big role. it will work only for govt and job purpose i mean some concession.more than that no role. another interesting factor i found that peoples are talking very much about religion actually they are doing as per their religion? no so it dnt have any important role in human life..of course we can live without religion.it is just a belief... we cant see it.. peoples are creating religion and all.. every body have their own values but i think for supporting that values and belief there is no need for a particular religion..
To me religion doesn't have any role in life....of course one can live without religion....why we all are religious...one who beliefs in Hinduism or Christianity or else... only because he/she born in such a family.....so all these are man made illusions........all over, it depends on person's perception and thinking.
Thank you simi, Vishnu, anu and Gipson for their valuable comments. My enquiry is in the context of present India, where religion is just translated as an instrument of power game on the onside and as a driving force for so many. But why we build big walls between human beings, societies and culture in the name of religion? It is true, as Gipson said, society need a belief to go away, like Budhism, Marxism or even fascism in extreme end. But religion is not simply a belief. Not simply a way of life… even the so called Hinduism itself is expressed in terms of wars, swindle and finally based on power. Medieval Christianity also was not different. What are the implications, if a society or group prefers a life beyond any Semitic religion?
Man being a social animal is governed by a set of rules imposed on him by the society. It can be religion, Law of the Land, Rules of a company, Routine within a family etc.
Religion is nothing but "do's and don’ts" required for an individual to be a part of the society. The only difference being that it is backed with spirituality and myths. i.e. where logic fails religion takes over.
People are on the lookout for acceptance from the society and satisfaction within self. This being the basic nature, it is for an individual to decide as to what composure he would like to project himself.
Moreover “achievements” are accomplished by self and he deserves full credit for his role and there is no room for any supernatural power that would have assisted him. On the other hand failures are caused due to negligence from the so called GOD even after one had put in his best effort.
If you are succeeding in life and there is nothing to remorse, then you need no one to blame and nothing to look up to. No rule will govern you. You can set the rules.
I believe in God, a sopernatural power, that gives me hope and love. But i don't believe in religion. I just think religion is nothing to do with survival. But religion is the only thing behind the wars and splitting of world apart piece by piece.
For a coming thousand years we Indians are not going to be enlightened. We will keep on dirking “holy red water” from stinking beaches of Bombay, feed marble statues with milk when thousands of kids die from starvation, will lick the dirty feet of “holy fathers and mothers” and will keep sending spam mails about being a “proud Indian” because some Mittal guy is the 3rd richest in the world, 30 % of the s/w slaves in silicon valley are Indians, director of Citibank in Indian...blah blah.. In every country in this world people get secular and civilized when they are educated in India its other way around.
Religion, very complicated and very sensitive area to be discussed and another one is belief which is purely depends on person to person...religon and belief are mutually corelated...the person who has some belief will not be able to live without religion which he/ she following right from the begining...religions has both good and bad effects in one's life...its good in the way that it binds people with certain rules, custom and belief..above that it make a person to fear about something which refrain him from doing any henious act..people beloging to same religion sometimes have unity for doing good things atleast 4 their people..but their are also certain ill effects in following such religion...sometimes one may have to sacrifice their pesonal wish which is not possible to fulfil while beloging to such religious group as they hv to follow certain guidlines...it restrain one's personal freedom, personal choice etc...sometimes religious rules and customs donot match with people's mind and their wish & desire...thats the situation when people want to get rid of this concept called religion..these religion is sometimes a barrier for fulfiling personal needs, wants, desire and wish...so people who love freedom and who donot want any link to check them, will definitly love to get rid from the so called religion..and if u connect religion and life..i would say that religion is not important as food, water, shelter and clothes to sustain life...but sometimes ofcourse its a gudline to lead a life...to believe in it or not is purely a personal one and i personnally a person who believe in religion but not that deeply..i believe certain things which donnot hurt me or hamper my freedom or u can say which doesnt make me loose me anything..i may not follow any rules of particular religion which may hurt me or anybody else...for me religion is something but not everything...
even though we say we dont belive to be in any religion that will definitly show you belive. it is proven that people gather knowledge from his home first. the first lesson will be given by our parents. we get to adopt those information in life, and trensfer it to next generation.but i strongly belive religion give the basic's of a life.
Religion is a creation of people who lived in different situations to suit to their way of thought that would support their philosophy of life. No saint or God men ever created religion. But people who associated with them at some point of time propagated their values and teachings to the world around since they felt its very captivating to their mind. Since values and teachings cannot exist in words or preachings of a couple of people, the need for creation of religion aroused. The concept of religion would work for institutionalisation of a set of religious teachings and hence would make it much more easy to propagate to a wider populance, and would help to ensure a society based on certain set of values- paving the way for a cultured society. All kind of organised communities had some kind of faith or religious sort of worship since that would help to manage ordinary folk that are significant part of social set up. Most of the mortals are people who donot want to think rationally and logically and human mind is some time oriented towards illogical things. Existence of religion reduces time an ordinay mortal need to sped to find out truth, and also help him to use a set of rules passed over generation to make the most out of him and the people around. The existence of faith healing is a telling evidence of the role of religion for helping average mortals to harmonise his internal energies for himself and for people around. Religion and with out spirituality is damaging to ordianry mortals while spirituality without religion is for the thinking organism. Neverthless the role of reiligion in daytoday life of ordianr mortals is unavoidable and is to be observed with dedication to reinvent oneself and hamonise with his environment, rather than being a blind fllower of rituals and habituated beleifs.
Don't think religion is required as long as people are civilised and they behave properly. All the religions are based on fear, which infact stops many from doing things they would have done otherwise. Its a control mechanism, which is not required if we all can behave ourselves.
Personally i am someone who deos not believe in religion, i think its something that keeps people apart in many ways, makes them build walls between themselves. but if we see in India different religions that exist actually makes our country different and diverse from other countries
many of the above postings described religion as a "set of rules", which helps in self discipline...That means, people are restricting them self from doing a crime because they are afraid of god...afraid of what will happen to them in the life after death...That is not morality...moral s are values required for sustaining a society and in turn for the individual...Otherwise no society can exist...It shouldn't be "rules what we follow because we fear god"...

When one lacks commonsense and rational thinking, they need it.
